There it was, her destiny, in writing. Did Uncle Basha know? She quickly located her uncle, not at Elizabeth House but in Crystal Palace, dining in private with Queen Iratus.

She gently nudged her uncle’s consciousness and he smiled. He welcomed her into his mind and they exchanged thoughts. He and Queen Iratus had received word of the atrocities in Pritavia and were sending more soldiers to King Dracup. Queen Iratus was preparing to journey to see King Bartholemew and the King of Bacopia to elicit additional aid.

Para communicated to her uncle what she knew. Bencish was there to help remove the ensorcellments from the captured soldiers who could possibly be turned to fight for the Light. She shared her first mastery testing with him and his pride radiated from him like a physical force she could feel. She also shared Marcus’ progress with him. She asked him if he knew her part in this battle against Darkness.

Cautiously he guessed her gift of life would name her to defeat the Dark One, and she confirmed his suspicion.

“When?”, he asked but she didn’t know. He told her he loved her and to prepare for the sunturn she would meet the Dark One. As she pulled away from him his fear for her washed over her and she ran to the basin and vomited.

She continued to read long into the night of the ritual Skaktar attempted and all the evilness that was bought from Pashtisha. This was the sunturn Para lost her childhood.

Over the next few mooncylces Para attempted to exercise her gift of life. She started on plants. She closed her eyes and concentrated on a small tomato plant. Her source reached out to the plant searching for its life force. Para had difficulty with this, she had no idea what a life force felt like, looked like, would be like. How would she know when she connected or how would she connect with something so elusive, so magical as the force of a life? Sunturns passed as she searched and searched and probed and pleaded but each night exhaustion claimed her before success could. Sometimes she felt cross-eyed she was trying so hard.

Early one morning, Para came to the place she had been so many sunturns and plopped down in front of the little plant. She reached forward and pulled the stone pot closer to her and just looked at the little plant. “Good morning little fella. Are you ready to share your secrets with me this sunturn?” With that she smiled at the little plant and laid down on the ground next to the plant, she wrapped her arm around the pot and nestled it. She gazed up at the light blue morning sky and closed her eyes, she must have drifted off to sleep because the next thing she remembered was a tickling in her mind that woke her. She awoke giggling as if someone was actually tickling her but no one was there. She faintly remembered the tickling sensation in her mind.
